This is a picture you won't find somewhere else on the internet: the left side of the 6120B. It's a hybrid 1280 tons excavator . The energy management system on the 6120B made use of large capacitors to store energy created by the shovel during swing deceleration and boom down movements, which helps power the hydraulic system during peak power requirements. This allowed for standard fuel consumption to be cut by 25 percent

Throwback to 2015 , when we were invited by Cat Global Mining in Milwaulkee, Wisconsin.
There, in the former Buckyrus factory, we could witness the production process of the mining equipment.
At the end, we were invited to see the biggest Cat hydraulic excavator ever built : the Cat 6120B H FS. Some numbers: 4500 HP 1270 tons 65 m³ bucket. It is a ultra-class hydraulic shovel designed to deliver highly productive three- or four-pass loading of ultra-class mining trucks.
The 6120B was designed to fill the need for a safe, cost efficient and highly mobile ultra class shovel for short term mining operations, non electrified sites and areas where the power grid has limitations.
Currently , the Cat 6090 FS ( RH400) of 980 tons is the largest hydraulic shovel in the world. The 6120 with 1280tons would have jumped a huge leap !

Pour mieux observer les détails de la machine, je vous laisse les images en grand format.
